Circular cable assemblies are most often associated with military/aerospace and industrial applications, although they are used extensively in other equipment sectors. Circular cable assemblies use circular-shaped connectors with metal, composite, or plastic shells. The connectors generally incorporate a coupling mechanism to secure mated connectors and a backshell, strain relief, or tubing to provide mechanical and environmental protection at the point where connector and cable meet. Other applications include audio/video (A/V) assemblies, medical assemblies, and geophysical assemblies.
