World Electronics Industry
Confidence Index (EICI)
May 2011
A survey of
electronics industry personnel finds that confidence is high,
despite the significant hit the industry took following the triple
disasters in Japan.
Each month we ask personnel working in the electronics industry
their opinion on business conditions now and their speculation on
business six months from now. People from all over the world respond
to this survey.
The survey was first conducted in February 2011, resulting in a
confidence level of 83.2. The March index dropped slightly to 81.7,
April dropped again to 80.8, and in May to 65.3. The lower EICI is
primarily the result of the earthquake in Japan. The following table
identifies the level of confidence industry personnel have in each
geographic region.
