Focus on: Alex Wang, Leoco
Alex Wang is the executive vice president of Leoco Corporation’s worldwide group for interconnects. With more than two decades of interconnect industry experience, ranging from R&D, material procurement, and manufacturing processes, Wang oversees Leoco’s cooperative strategy and innovation drive. In addition, for the past 15 years, his skills and knowledge have brought a wide-ranged discipline to Leoco’s development and expansion efforts. Currently situated at Leoco’s California facility, he is responsible for connecting technology companies throughout North and South America to Leoco.

The last book I read:  Horse Illustrated magazine. Riding horses refreshes my mental state and inspires me. It also gives me the opportunity to test out management strategies.
Why did you choose this industry for your profession? I have always been fascinated with the latest high-tech innovations. There is nothing like seeing a product in the market that you know has a Leoco part connecting its technology.
If I knew then what I know now, I would have: Bought into Apple Computer. Need I say more?
The best advice anyone ever gave me was: Successful communication entails compromise of both parties.
What trend in the industry is affecting your job and what would you like to do about it? The downturn of the economy is forcing some interconnect manufacturers to cut back on its non-critical product lines, and we’re seeing more than 20-week lead times for some products. These overly long lead times force many customers to search for a manufacturer that is willing to produce products in line with their own production needs. Leoco is putting custom connector and wire assemblies into focus to serve these needs. Our expansion, adding three more manufacturing facilities, will help us serve these customers and keep business moving across the industry.
