Each month we ask personnel working in the electronics industry their opinion on business conditions now and in six months from now. People from all over the world respond to this survey.
The May Electronic Industry Confidence is 62.3, about the same as April at 62.8, but down from March at 72.4.

The following graph plots the World Electronics Industry Confidence Index. This is the combination of present and future results.

*An index below 50.0 is negative.
Industry personnel are asked, “What is your confidence in present business conditions and future (six months from now) business conditions?" Respondents have three choices: positive, neutral, or negative.
Having a score above 50.0 means that electronics industry personnel are positive about present and future business conditions. Below 50.0 means negative confidence.
The May Confidence Index is 59.8 for present business conditions. North America and Asia are still positive about present business, but are down in confidence from April. Japan moved from negative in April to positive in May. Europe is still mired in negative territory.

May Confidence in future business conditions is 64.7, down from April at 70.0. All regions are positive about future business, except Europe, and all are down from April, except Japan.
