A Brief History of IMS Connector Systems
The company was founded in 1863 as the Johann Morat Company in
Eisenbach, Germany. The company developed machines to produce gear
wheels and axles for mechanical clocks.
In 1972, the company started RF connector production. By reacting to
market demand, the company’s product range expanded, and in 1985, it
manufactured the first components for cellular phones.
IMS Connector Systems is founded in 1989. The product offering
included: RF connectors, cable assemblies, and mobile phone
components. Growth continued in 1990, with large investments, which
helped establish a strong R&D department and modern production
facilities. IMS Connector Systems becomes a global player.
In 2001, IMS Connector Systems entered into a partnership with the
well-known design house IMST, and developed customized antenna
solutions for mobile communication.
In 2002, IMS Connector Systems developed and manufactured the new
FAKRA-compliant SMBA connectors and cable assemblies, and become a
supplier for the automotive industry.
Production was concentrated into two modern production plants, in
China and Hungary, in 2003.
The quick lock connector series, QLS, and miniature RF switches were
developed in 2005 to meet the market demand. Most recently, in 2006,
the new RF connector, MedLock, was developed for use in medical
devices. IMS Connector Systems is now a supplier for the medical
equipment market.
