ERNI Electronics is a leading global manufacturer and worldwide supplier of a broad line of interconnects for the telecommunications, data communications, computer, industrial, and medical markets. The systems division at ERNI focuses on the development and production of backplanes, electronic assemblies, and complete systems. The company was established in 1956, and its headquarters and manufacturing facilities are Iocated in Adelberg, Germany. ERNI Electronics manufactures its connectors in compliance with DIN 41612, the most widely accepted standard for industrial PCB connectors in the world. Domestic production is centralized in Adelberg, at a production plant built in 1992. The company achieves uncompromising quality as documented by the CECC/DIN ISO 9001 certification since 1993. Continuous growth led to a 75% expansion of the Adelberg production plant at the end of 1997 (+7,500 sq. m). In 2012, the plant will expand again, adding 7,000 sq. m of state-of-the-art production capacities. The newest manufacturing technologies, excellent design, and strong sales activity ensure ERNI will maintain its outstanding market position.

The company has consistently extended its range of services in the systems engineering business area, which accounts for about 30% of its total revenue. Current developments focus on the development and manufacturing of backplanes, electronic assemblies, and sub-systems, based on cost-effective surface mount (SMT) technology. The range of services includes all design and manufacturing stages, such as planning, connector design, PCB layouts, circuit diagrams, simulation, prototyping, mechanical design, power supplies, and cooling, through to the fully equipped and tested end product.

In addition, a wide range of active board products and sub-systems can be supplied from a single source, due to the company’s extensive know-how in SMT, through-hole (THR), and through-hole technology (THT) soldering. As a pioneer in press-fit technology, ERNI offers cost-effective solutions for a large number of applications.

Many applications also require customized cable connections. To support this customer demand, ERNI Electronics supplies fully assembled customized and standard cables with crimp, soldering, and IDC technology as part of its system solution offering. The focus is on cable assemblies, based on the company’s own connectors.

ERNI is continuously expanding its online shop, ERNI  X-PRESS, which makes all products available off the shelf with 24-hour delivery with no minimum purchase, minimum order number, or any other obligations. ERNI ES GmbH, a subsidiary of ERNI Electronics GmbH, offers assembly services for electronic boards and systems, certified to ISO 9001. ERNI X-PRESS customers can receive their electronic assembly within 24 hours, assembled to the highest standard using conventional soldering technologies (SMT, THR, or THT).
