Molex is an official sponsor of the 2013 Chicago Women’s Half Marathon & 5K. The event will be held on Sunday, June 23, in Upper Hutchinson Field, Grant Park, Chicago. Traversing a route along the Chicago lakefront, the 13.1-mile half marathon starts at 6:30 a.m., with the 5K starting at approximately 6:50 a.m. The American Heart Association’s Go Red* for Women movement is the official beneficiary of this second annual Chicago Women’s Half Marathon & 5K. Go Red* For Women is an initiative designed to enable women to take charge of their heart health.

“Molex is dedicated to empowering women – from its support of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education for girls to professional advancement opportunities and cultivating women leaders in the electronics industry,” said Jeannette Legge, chair, Women’s Business Council, Molex. “We are especially proud to sponsor this important event giving women from all walks of life an opportunity to strive for excellence, while raising money to improve the heart health of all women.”

Chicago Women’s Half Marathon participants will receive a 2013 finisher’s medal. Those who registered by May 15 will receive a personalized bib number. Mother-daughter and sister-sister teams are welcome to register and join in the fun together. All registered runners receive an event shirt and participant bag, and are invited to join in a celebratory post-race party featuring great food, music, and sponsor booths. “In preparation for the race, many employees from our Lisle headquarters are actively participating in a Molex training program, developed in support of the Go Red* for Women initiative. We look forward to an exhilarating day with nearly 40 Molex women racing – and welcome other runners to stop by and visit the Molex tent,” said Legge.
