Stacking/Mezzanine Connectors

A mezzanine connector connects two parallel printed circuit boards in a stacking configuration. They are usually available in 5mm to 15mm stack heights, and those with small pitches (below 1.27mm) are used in applications that require small size and slim construction such as camcorders, LCD displays, and mobile/smartphones. When choosing a mezzanine connector, it’s important to consider the stack height needed to meet the application requirements; the number of signals that will pass between the boards; available space; method of attachment; and the need for either an open pin field or controlled impedance.
