Mouser Electronics received the prestigious Global High Service Distributor of the Year Award for the third consecutive year, as well as the award for top customer growth, from TE Connectivity. The annual awards recognize TE’s highest-performing distribution partners based on sales growth, market share growth, customer growth, and business plan performance. Mouser won the 2015 top customer growth award by exceeding its customer growth plan and increasing TE customer count by 15% with solid growth in every region. It won the 2015 Global High Service Distributor of the Year Award for the third year in a row by growing revenue. The distributor successfully grew its TE business, outpacing overall company growth rates in key categories including sales, customer count, and pieces per customer, which ultimately increased its TE commercial connector market share.
Additionally, Mouser received more than 17 top business awards from its manufacturer partners for 2015, including interconnect manufacturers TE Connectivity, Molex, Amphenol Corporation, Amphenol Industrial, HARTING, and Qualtek. Manufacturers cited many reasons for the honors, including double-digit sales growth, fastest introduction of new products, breadth of inventory, best-in-class marketing campaigns, customer growth, outstanding point-of-sales (POS) growth, global expansion, and commitment to teamwork.
Heilind Electronics was recently recognized as the #1 electronics distributor as rated by customers. The award was announced at this year’s Electronic Distribution Show (EDS) in Las Vegas and was based on results from an annual customer satisfaction survey conducted by Bishop & Associates, the leading market research firm for the interconnect industry. The 2016 award is the sixth consecutive one for Heilind, which was ranked #1 in nearly every category including on-time delivery, breadth of product offering, sales and technical support, and ease of doing business.

CDM Electronics has added custom cable assembly overmolding to its value-added services. The overmolded assemblies are designed to withstand demanding environmental conditions in a wide range of industries including commercial, industrial, medical, military, and agricultural. Designed for long life and reliable performance, CDM’s overmolded cable assemblies improve performance and reduce total cost in applications in which harsh environments, abrasion, and EMI/RFI are factors. The assemblies may be engineered for a broad array of applications including intermediate and light-duty power cable assemblies for industrial usage, RF coaxial assemblies, military/tactical assemblies, D-subminiature, and mini assemblies. All cable assemblies are manufactured in CDM’s New Jersey ISO 9001:2008 and UL Listed facility by J-STD-001 and IPC-620 certified operators. Assemblies are provided in prototype, short-run, and production quantities.
Also, CDM Electronics received the 4-Star Supplier Excellence Award from Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) business. The Supplier Excellence Award program was instituted to recognize suppliers that consistently deliver outstanding service and partnership in exceeding customer requirements. This year, Raytheon IDS awarded only 159 suppliers out of more than 3,000 candidates an Operational Excellence Supplier Award, placing CDM in the top 5% of eligible nominees. Award candidates were judged on specific criteria, including overall product quality, on-time delivery, and exceptional performance. The 4-Star requirements for quality (no defects) and on-time delivery are 97.5% for a minimum of one year, with a minimum of 10 shipments. CDM provides interconnect products and value-added services to Raytheon for programs that include Global Patriot Solutions combat-proven missile defense architecture, Global Hawk air vehicle, and Clear View security solutions.
Astute Electronics signed a franchise agreement with LEMO, which will include products such as the company’s M series – the smallest multi-pin, full-shielded, vibration-secure, and sealed connector available; the lightweight, high-temperature F series for defense, autosport, and other harsh markets; and the T series – an update of LEMO’s staple B series with a higher contact density and IP68 rating.
Molex LLC and Cisco have announced their participation in a multi-supplier agreement (MSA) to create high-speed, double-density quad small form factor pluggable (QSFP-DD), a new high-speed interface. They are just two of 13 industry leaders that have joined the MSA in the collaboration. Under the MSA, participating companies are developing new technology for the QSFP-DD to enable up to 10 times the range of the bandwidth to be supported on the same port. The goal is ensuring mechanical, electrical, thermal and signal-integrity interoperability for module components produced by different manufacturers. Members of the MSA are developing operating parameters, signal transmission speed goals, and protocols for QSFP-DD. The new QSFP-DD interface expands on widely adopted QSFP-enabling systems to support backwards compatibility to existing 40GbE and 100GbE QSFP interfaces as well as a clear path to future 2x100GbE and 400GbE interfaces. By maintaining the same port density per rack unit, customers can speed up networks without redesigning the architecture.
ITT Inc.’s Cannon brand has joined the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) e.V., the world’s foremost industry association for the development of global electric vehicle charging standards. Established by a consortium of global automotive brands that includes BMW, General Motors, Daimler, Ford, and Audi, CharIN e.V. and its members are working to develop a high-performance combined charging system (CCS) based on open, universal standards. The CCS will incorporate AC and DC charging in a single system along with the connector, inlet, and control functions, providing a single solution for all global EV charging requirements.

AFC Cable Systems now offers a wide range of custom armoring solutions suitable for applications in the power and electrical distribution industry. The custom armoring, available through both the AFC Cable Systems and Kaf-Tech brands, adds a protective interlocking armor to customer-supplied wire, cable, or fiber core. Customers can take advantage of a variety of cable bundling options under one cable protection system, including bundling communications cable with fiber counts of 12, 24, 36, 48, or more. An optional outer jacket of specialty formulated PVC can be added to provide extra protection and color-coded to act as a differentiator from other similar cables and for ease of identification. This option is ideal for use in plenum and riser applications, wet locations, and where cable is embedded in concrete.
