Fuel Management Systems require airtight connectors especially designed to reliably perform in extremely harsh environments. Hermetically sealed MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-5015, MIL-DTL-26482, MIL-DTL-87323, and EN2997 solutions designed for use in severe weather, under extreme pressure, and at high altitudes, or similarly rugged D-Sub and Micro-D connectors, are usually specified for use in commercial aircraft fuel management systems.
PEI-Genesis offers TE Connectivity’s hermetically sealed DEUTSCH AFD Series MIL-DTL-26482 Series II Connectors, which have a quick-mating, three-point bayonet coupling system and a high-quality contact retention system especially designed for harsh- environment use. They are also intermateable with SOURIAU connectors and all MIL-DTL-26482 Series II connectors.
Landing Gear Systems are another critical commercial aircraft system that requires specialized connectors. Examples of common solutions for this system include MIL-DTL-26482 Series II and MIL-DTL-38999 connectors. These connectors feature rugged designs made to withstand harsh operating conditions and are often customized to meet individual application demands. One benefit of using mil-spec connectors is that that they can mate with any manufacturer’s standard mil-spec solutions, which provides extensive design flexibility.
PEI-Genesis is authorized to assemble custom D38999 miniature,
high-density circular connectors for top manufacturers including Amphenol, ITT Cannon, TE Connectivity, and SOURIAU, and offers low minimum order quantities. SOURIAU’s 8D 38999 Series III Connectors have a unique anti-decoupling mechanism that ensures that the plug and receptacle remain coupled even under extreme environmental conditions and are also qualified to EN3645, BACC63CT/CU, and BACC63DB/DC.
Airframes often employ BACC connectors, which are qualified to Boeing specifications and designed to satisfy general-purpose commercial and military aircraft requirements for shielding, environmental sealing, fluid resistance, and vibration. These types of connectors can also be built to customer specifications and are available in a variety of different shell materials, finishes, and configurations capable of satisfying application requirements ranging from lightweighting to high- speed transmission.
Galley and Cabin Systems require cost-effective, lightweight, and high-reliability connectors, and often prioritize those with scoop-proof designs to protect the pins during mating and help to ensure long lifetimes in applications including in-flight entertainment systems and galley equipment such as microwave ovens, chillers, and trash compactors.
