2016 Top 10 Connector Manufacturers in World Sales

By Ron Bishop | November 07, 2017

We took names. We analyzed the numbers. Now we’ll share the results.

2016 Top 10 Connector Manufacturers

Last month, we provided readers with in-depth, behind-the-scenes insight into the complicated process of engaging with suppliers throughout the interconnect industry and conducting careful analysis of a great deal of hard data to formulate our market reports. Before we publish our market reports, we need to be 100% confident that we’ve selected the top companies and ranked them in the proper order, because these rankings matter. They help designers decide which suppliers to work with to develop new products, they help suppliers decide where to invest their R&D and acquisition dollars, and they capture the chronology of an industry that is constantly evolving, establishing a detailed historical record.

When we develop long-term industry assessments, such as the recent Landscape Changes in the Connector Industry article, the decades of comparative data help readers to better understand trends and shifts in the industry.

So, who’s on top this year? Well, as discussed in our last article, that depends on perspective. To ensure that our market reports address as many designers’ and suppliers’ needs as possible, we investigated and ranked the top 10 from four different perspectives: total sales, geographic region, products manufactured, and markets served.

2016 Top 10 Connector Companies by Region

When ranked by region, 23 different companies earned a top 10 ranking in 2016.

2016 Top 10 by Market Sector

When ranked by market sector, segmented into 11 categories, 38 companies earned a top 10 ranking in 2016.

2016 Top 10 by Product Type

When ranked by product type, segmented into 12 categories, 45 companies earned a top 10 ranking in 2016. Of these 45 companies, 36 also earned top 10 rankings by market sector.

These four measurement perspectives — total sales, geographic region, products manufactured, and markets served — can be further analyzed to come up with an overall ranking for all the companies measured. The World’s Top 100 Electronic Connector Manufacturers Report provides an overall ranking of the top 100 connector companies to help individuals throughout the interconnect industry identify, research, and select which suppliers to partner with and where to invest R&D and acquisition dollars.

Identifying the supplier best suited to your specific needs is a weighty decision, and by no means an easy task, but various rankings achieved through in-depth investigation and careful analysis from several different perspectives can make this difficult task significantly easier.
