2018 Top 10 Connector Suppliers for Overall Satisfaction with Product Quality and Problem Handling

The results are in for the 2018 Bishop & Associates US Customer Satisfaction Survey of the Electronic Connector Industry. In this issue, we reveal the top 10 connector suppliers ranked by level of customer satisfaction with product quality and problem handling.

Bishop & Associates recently completed its biennial US customer survey, in which a total of 395 customers evaluated 42 connector manufacturers on a range of important issues. They answered 17 questions relating to quality, pricing, delivery, lead times, technical support, and more. Thirty-one companies received sufficient evaluations to remain in the final report:

The questionnaire was designed to allow the respondent to check a box, indicating the level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction with a particular supplier. Bishop & Associates then assigned a numerical value to each evaluation as shown in the following table.

6 = Extremely satisfied
5 = Very satisfied
4 = Satisfied
3 = Dissatisfied
2 = Very dissatisfied
1 = Extremely dissatisfied

The following table identifies the 10 companies that received the highest customer evaluations for best performance for customer satisfaction with product quality in 2018.

Samtec, ODU, and Kycon placed first, second, and third, respectively. New to this year’s list are 3M Electronics, J.S.T., and LEMO. LEMO was the most improved since the last time we surveyed, in 2016. The company rose 12 places, from 22nd to 10^th, in the 2018 US Customer Satisfaction survey.

The following table is a comparison of the rankings of this year’s 10 top connector manufacturers for customer satisfaction with product quality, versus the previous four years in which the survey was conducted.

Samtec placed first and second in Bishop’s last five US surveys. Kycon and Phoenix Contact placed in the top 10 in the last five years the survey was conducted. WAGO, first surveyed in 2014, has sustained top 10 status in the last three biennial surveys.

The next table identifies the 10 companies that received the best 2018 evaluations for customer satisfaction with problem handling.

Kycon, Samtec, and ODU received the highest scores, ranking first, second, and third, respectively, for problem handling in the 2018 Bishop & Associates US Customer Satisfaction Survey of the Electronic Connector Industry. AirBorn and HARTING tied for fourth with an identical score of 4.389. AirBorn and Weidmuller were most improved when compared to the results from the 2016 survey.
