FCI’s low-profile 1.2mm pitch wire-to-board connector expands and strengthens its compact connector portfolio.
FCI introduced a low-profile, 1.2mm pitch wire-to-board connector. With a mated height of only 2.50mm, this new product line offers a selection of three to six pin counts, making them suitable for many applications. These additions will augment FCI’s existing catalog of compact connectors, and address increasing demands for miniaturized interconnect solutions across different industries.
The compact design of the 1.2mm pitch wire-to-board connector features an enclosed receptacle profile with lead-in features that assist mating in tight spaces. Unlike conventional connectors, the plug and receptacle of these compact connectors feature a frictional mating technique, which delivers an excellent retention force and supports up to 20 mating cycles. These solutions also have polarized key slots to prevent misalignments between the plug and receptacle.
The 1.2mm connector suite features a voltage rating of 50V and a current rating of 0.5A per contact. It is able to withstand voltages as high as 500VAC up to a minute, and has an operating temperature range of -25°C to +85°C, usable with cable specifications of AWG28 or AWG30, UL10368.
“As electronics become increasingly smaller in size, it is critical for connecter solutions to keep pace with this miniaturization trend. The launch of this compact solution allows us to be involved in many emerging electronics segments and help mature industries evolve their existing products further,” said Roger Rawlins, vice president for consumer business development at FCI.
The connectors are suitable for consumer applications such as notebooks, solid-state lighting, portable gaming consoles, tablets, and mobile navigation devices.
